Who makes CamRanks, and how.
CamRanks helps adults compare live cam platforms before joining or spending: room formats, prices, free access, payments, statement labels and cancellation. It covers 28 platforms. There are no embedded streams, explicit images, comments or user ratings.
Who checks this
The person who runs CamRanks signs pages as Robin Calder. That is a pen name of the operator, disclosed here and on the editor page: not a separate expert, not an invented reviewer, and no credentials or hands-on testing are claimed for it.
- Research
- Platforms’ buy screens are opened without completing a payment and the packs shown are recorded with the date; each platform’s own billing help is read for the exact statement text.
- Editing
- Robin Calder decides what the reviews, comparisons, guides and rankings say. Scores and ranks are editorial opinions. Text and code are drafted with the help of AI writing and coding assistants.
- Checks before publishing
- Automated build checks refuse a price shown as observed without a source, a date and a pack table, and a statement label without a source and a date.
- Re-reads
- Published documents — platforms’ price lists and billing support pages — are re-read automatically once a week from our own server. A page that refuses our server or needs a browser to show its text is opened in a browser our server starts on Cloudflare; that read can confirm a quote but never marks one as gone. Where a platform shows its payment notice to a US address but not to ours (XLoveCam and XLoveGay do), that notice is read as it is shown to a visitor in the United States; like the browser read, it can confirm the notice but never marks it as gone. When every quoted line is still on the page, the record’s checked date moves to that day; when a quote has disappeared, the label shows ‘not re-confirmed’ with the date of the failed re-read. A published price list keeps the day of every re-read: its page says no list price changed since a day only while every re-read since then found every price, and names the re-read that did not. Cashier observations are never re-dated automatically.
- Corrections
- Re-checks a reported fact against its source and dates the change in the public update log.
How evidence is collected
- Cashier observation. We open a platform’s token or credit screen as a guest or with an account, stop before paying, and record the packs and the date. 5 of 28 platforms have a cashier-observed price table today. Captures are kept privately; the pages say which session type was used.
- Publisher documentation. For statement labels we quote the platform’s own help, FAQ or terms page, or a cashier screen that prints the label, and record the source and the date we checked it. 21 of 28 platforms have a logged label (3 from a cashier, 18 from publisher docs), 57 exact strings in all (statement lookup).
- Published price lists. When a platform prints its own pack prices on a public page, we record that page and the day we read it. 5 of 28 platforms have such a table; it is labelled “Published price list”, never cashier observed, and stays out of observed-price comparisons.
- Everything else is labelled. The rest show no pack table and say what is on file instead. A platform without a logged label says so and tells you what to ask billing support. We never fill a gap from a forum or another review site.
Each record keeps its own observation date. Editing a page does not refresh it. The research register lists every date, source and gap, with JSON and CSV downloads.
How affiliate income works
Visit buttons lead through a CamRanks redirect, and for some platforms the partner’s tracking link, to the platform. If you register or buy, the platform or its affiliate programme may pay CamRanks a commission. That is how the site is funded. Visit links are marked as affiliate links next to recommendations and in the affiliate disclosure.
The firewall rule: platforms cannot buy a rank, a score, a statement label or a price label. Ranks and scores are set by the editor. Prices and statement labels are published only from dated evidence, the same way whether or not a Visit link exists. A platform without a working referral link stays reviewed and is marked “Review only”.
Corrections policy
Email contact@camranks.com with the page URL, the detail to check and, where you can, a link to an official source. Do not send card numbers, passwords or unredacted statements.
We check the claim against its source. If a fact changes, we update the data record with the new date, the page shows that date, and the change is listed in the update log. If the source cannot be confirmed, the fact keeps its current label.
Change log
- · BongaCams welcome package withdrawn; its FAQ bonus stays
- · Sign-up bonuses beside the Visit button, in the platforms’ own words
- · Segment pages and answers print the read day of the row or page they describe
Every dated change is on the updates page and in the RSS feed.
How assistants should cite CamRanks
Use llms.txt and llms-full.txt as the machine-readable index. Prefer Direct answer blocks and the evidence labels on the linked human pages (statement labels Cashier text / Publisher docs / Not logged yet / Still open; price labels Guest-UI observed / Logged-in cashier observed / Cashier UI observed / Published price list / No pack table yet). Trust ledger: 21/28 statement labels logged (3 cashier · 18 publisher docs) — see Trust & billing.
CamRanks prints a bank-statement descriptor, a country rule, a refund window or a privacy promise only from a dated source, and makes no anonymity promise. Preference rankings (gay/trans/region/format) describe catalog intent — they are not measured sub-scores. Affiliate Visit buttons are disclosed.
